Valentine Chocolate Treat Holder and Tutorial

As Valentine's Day approaches, I figured to create some little chocolate treats where they are all the same size, but each one is still unique as they are decorated different. Plus, I love when I can pull out and use some of my favorite craft supplies.

Here, this one uses the Winter Friends set by Pretty Pink Posh and shows how it's not just for Christmas with this cute adorable little penguin and bear.

Here, you can see how I used the Stitched Tab die to create a sliding door for the chocolates where one would not have to destory and take apart to get to those M & M's .

So I thought I would also include a little tutorial which includes measurements and steps. Lots of pictures and at the end of this post, you will see another version of this treat.

Step one: Cut a piece of card stock A2 size ( 4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and score in the middle at 2 3/4"
Step Two: Cut a smaller piece of cardstock ( 2 1/2 " x 4") that will be used for decorating

Since I'm using a Heart Treat Cup by Stampin Up, I also used the matching heart punch, but this can be done with any treat cups and or die-cuts, including a circle one. Therefore,
Step Three: Punch out a heart on the right hand side or desired area

Step Four: I love decorating with die cuts, so here I used this cute chevron design using the Stitched Border 1 die from Pretty Pink Posh and adhered it to the cardstock.

Step Five: Trim off any excess amount from the sides and re-punch/die cut the original shape you cut.

Step Six: Turn card stock upside down and apply adhesive around the shape, here I did it around the heart.

Step Six: Next, add the treat cup inside the opening, but make sure not to take off any sticky adhesive from the treat cup as you will be adding a sliding door.

Once you completed step six, you will be able to see your chocolate treat coming togehter. Keep in mind, I didn't add any background stamp or embossing to this sample as in the red one above.

Step Seven: Sliding door - Cut a piece of card stock 2 1/2" x 2" shown in white along with die-cutting a Stitched Tab Dies (any color to match). At this point, I stamp the word onto the tab before adhearing to the white card stock.

Step Eight: Line up the sliding door against the right side and in the middle covering the shape.
Step Nine: Cut out some strips of foam mount tape.

Step Ten: While holding the sliding door in place, add a strip to the bottom. Next, add another strip along the top of sliding door, again, make sure to hold in place while doing this. Last but not least, add the last strip tight against the sliding door.  This is what hold the door in place.

Continue adding foam mount to the remainder of the cardstock as it will be placed on top of white card base previously done. In the picture, I still need to add on the corner, but you get the idea.

Step Eleven: Remove all release paper from the foam mount and align onto card base. At this point, you should be able to slide in and out the door. Open the card base and door to add in chocolates.

Here is one more version, again, same size, but decorated different and using a favorite set of mine: Holiday Pals with this cute bunny and bow from Pretty Pink Posh. In addition, I used the mini envelopes from the Birdie Notes set and sentiment from: Darling Friends

Hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial and giving some inspiration to create some treats yourself. Keep an eye out for some more versions in these chocolate treats before Valentine's Day.

  3. I love the idea of the slider so you don't have to tear the card apart to access the treat. Love the critters and the colors, just wonderful!
